Dissecting the UX of Home Depot and Lowe's
I am beginning to understand the consumeristic state of America.
I spent 2 hours of my day observing how Home Depot and Lowe’s influenced my decision-making when it came to buying plants. As an international student, it was my first time walking into these giant warehouses of everything. I had not looked up what I wanted to buy on the websites and decided to track how the physical stores were curated.
It was an interesting experience as it warmed me up to the technical aspect of how businesses in the States are fine-tuning the curation so efficiently to maximize the funnels and AOV (Average Order Value). It was a treat to attempt to dissect how these businesses tap into our behavioral and cognitive tendencies to influence our buying patterns.
Prompt: Turn Home Depot and Lowe's into 2 salesmen. Use company branding to dress their clothes. They're both trying to sell you plants and gardening essentials. They are very sly and smart. comic aesthetic. detailed
First Stop: Home Depot
Final Stop: Lowe’s
Again, these are all my assumptions in understanding how these companies curate an experience. Write to me if you have different perspectives! I’ll see you in the next one.
